Inbetween fantasies and dreams

2004-01-12 - 7:03 p.m.

In the wee hours of the morning, I was told a story. From 7:30 to 9:30am, this is how it went:

Once upon a time, there lived a cute cat girl with which a shy fox boy was madly in love, but he was too shy to say anything. But that cat girl knew he liked her and laid a trap.

The cat girl left her door open one day because she knew that the fox boy had a milk errand to run and one of his stops was her house, so she planned to take a bath before he would arrive.

The Fox boy was coming up on her house and he started to get rather hot. He unbuttoned his shirt down two buttons and ran his fingers through his shaggy brown hair. He walked up to her door and noticed it was opened. The Fox was worried and walked in and called, "Anyone here?" There was no answer.

The fox was now in her living room, and he looked at all her cute little dodads she had on her shelves. He didn't notice that the cat was watching him from across the room. The cat just watched the shaggy haired fox boy as he giggled to himself.

She sat on the edge of her last stair at the end of the room and smiled to herself about how she came to know the fox. She remembered the day when he first started delivering the milk.

It was early morning and the dew was still on the grass. She was outside playing while her mommy was hanging sheets. She heard the clink clink of bottles hitting one another. She peeked over her small white fence outside of her tree home and she saw a large fox and a little fox with shaggy brown hair.

The bottles of white milk clanked as they walked closer. The older fox waved at her mommy and smiled. Her mommy walked over to the gate and opened it for him. She beckoned the small cat girl to her and introduced her. "This is my daughter Fyx."

Her mommy smiled when she saw the little fox hiding behind his father's leg. "Oh, who's this?" she questioned the older fox. The fox chuckled deeply. "This is my son Rask, say hello, son."

The young fox walked out from behind his father's leg. This was the first moment that Fyx saw him. He had long brown hair that covered up both eyes partly and one of his fox ears was bent a little at the tip. But what took Fyx by surpirse was his large dark brown eyes when he brushed his hair away.

His eyes shone with the same shine as the dew on the morning grass. He blushed and turned away when his eyes met hers "Um, hi." She giggled, but the young fox still hid his face.

That brought her back out of her daydream. She didn't realize she'd giggled out loud and noticed the once young fox was now looking at her. She blushed and smiled at him; he had such a dumb but cute grin on his face. His mouth opened....

No words would form at his mouth. He couldn't say anything to the girl that he met so long ago. She looked the same as back then when he first was walking with his dad on his first milk trip. Her shoulder length red hair, her blue eyes. It all brought him back to that day when he fell for her....

"Now, come on son you must make a good showing your first day, so people will like and trust you," his dad said, walking down the old dirt trail. It was early morning, and Rask couldn't help but smile at what he was doing. They were coming up on the next tree home--little did he realize was life-changeing.

It was a rather large house, and he could see a cat women cleaning sheets as he walked closer to the gates. For a second, he thought he saw a pair of ears behind the fence, but they quickly disappeared. The woman waved to his father and opened that gate for them.

The gate open, Rask ran behind his father's leg. He was shy when it came to meeting new people. He was used to playing alone. He didnt hear anything the two adults were talking about because his eyes were locked on a small catgirl that was coming closer.

She was beyond pretty. His mouth dropped open. He didnt know what he was feeling, but he was stunned. She was small, but her flowing red hair hid her blonde cat ears as she ran closer. Her blue eyes twinkled with the sun and her smile... He could not help but to stare while behind papa's leg.

Then, she stopped next to the older cat. She tugged on her mother's dress as her mother said, "This is my daughter Fyx." Fyx smiled and said hello in the most pretty voice Rask had ever heard. He wasnt listening to father talk, but he felt father's hand push him out from behind his leg.

"This is my third youngest, Rask," Rask's father said with a chuckle. Rask couldnt speak just like he couldn't now, when she was so close to him. He brought himself back to his senses, and he realized she and he were just staring at one another. "Um, I was, um, I mean the..."

Rask knew he was studdering. He always studdered when she was around. "I mean the door was opened, and I was, um..." She stopped him mid-sentence, "Worried, Rask, about me." She giggled when she said it, but she couldn't help it; he was so cute when he couldnt talk.

She got up and walked toward Rask, who was standing beside the old fireplace. Fyx stopped just about a foot away from him. She smiled when Rask backed into the wall. "How long have we known one another, Rask? Since we were kids, and you still act the same way around me as you did then."

She locked eyes with the fox she always knew, and he still took her breath away. She knew what she wanted to do to him, but she couldn't move. Fyx stood there looking at him; he didnt know why he did what happened next. He raised his arms and embraced her.

It felt right. There were no worries in his mind when he embraced her, and he didn't want to let go. Then, he felt her squeeze back. He looked at her blue eyes and was lost. He lowered his head and took the first kiss from his love's lips. It seemed like forever and not long enough, but he was happy at that moment.

She melted when Rask stepped forward and embraced her for the first time. It was what she always dreamed and nothing near it. She stared into his brown eyes, her lip trembled and she bent froward to take his kiss, then she was lost in the moment. Their lips touched, and she held him for the first time.

Their lips parted, and Fyx let go of the breath she thought she'd held forever. A single tear rolled down her cheek. "Why are you crying? I am sorry for what I di..." Fyx put a finger over his lips and shook her head. "No, it's not that. You did what I've been waiting for you to do for so long now."

She let the tear fall down her cheek, and she raised her head to the side of the fox's face and blew three words that would change Rask's life. "I love you." Rask grabbed Fyx and held her tight and replied back, "I am yours for now and always: I love you." Rask sweeped her up into his arms.

She let out a small yell when he carried her to her bed and laid her down onto the silk sheets. He stood at the side of the bed looking at her, just smiling. Fyx smiled back, took his hand, and pulled him to her. As they kissed for a second time, Fyx ran her fingers through his shaggy hair...

What happened next? you ask. Well, that is between Fyx and Rask. But, just to let you know, they were together from that point on. And the gleam in their eyes never flickered.

.... THE END .....
